Even when Katie Holmes attends a more casual Hollywood event, she still manages to draw a crowd with her whimsical approach to fashion.

Back in December 2018, the Dawson's Creek alum emphasized this idea when she arrived for Z100's annual Jingle Ball concert in New York City. Despite the outing being more informal than her usual appearances, Katie caused a stir by wearing a black tulle Ulla Johnson shirt. The apparel was unique due to the lace detailing, from the ruffles that created a V-neckline to the flowers sewn on the material. But what made the top a statement piece was the lace creating a sheer overlay.

With the style of her shirt exuding a surprise merge of casual yet sexy, Katie continued the theme for the rest of the look as well.

When it came to bottoms, the Batman Begins star chose to contrast the top with a pair of white jeans. Katie walked the red carpet wearing taupe-colored heeled boots and added a simple bracelet and stud earrings for jewelry. She styled her signature dark hair into a wispy lob, with subtle waves framing her face. She completed the red carpet ensemble with black eyeliner, rosy cheeks and a neutral lip color.

When Katie later posted a photo of her at the Jingle Ball on Instagram, fans adored seeing her in a more relaxed setting. Nonetheless, it didn't take long before they commented how much they loved the shirt she wore that night.

"So pretty! And that top ... 😍," one person wrote. "Katie you are so beautiful!! 😍😍," another follower added. "You just do not age it seems," a different follower said.

Needless to say, the Pieces of April actress knows what will elicit a reaction from her fans, and she has no qualms with doing so. What's more, this isn't the only time she donned a sheer top to a celebrity soirée. Just a year later, she would wear a see-through black polka dot blouse to MCC Theater's All-Star "Let's Play! Celebrity Game Night" event in New York City.
